should I try to install Excel 2016 again? Has Microsoft fixed it's performance problems? How much time am I willing to spend trying to get this poorly written software to work? That on top of Microsoft ending support on October 10, 2017. Only now I learn that Office 2011 will not work properly on macOS High Sierra. What's more, I stripped Office 2016 from client's and friend's Macs, too, installing Office 2011 instead. Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
